James McKelvey


James McKelvey is the co-founder of Square, a new mobile payment platform. A revolutionary service that enables anyone to accept credit cards anywhere. The company is founded in 2009 by Jim Makilvi and Jack Dorsey, founder of Twitter. Recently the board of directors of Square welcomed Larry Summers – a former economic adviser to Barack Obama.

His other company Mira, started out as a software company. Eventually, Mira was refocused as a digital publishing company, providing services and conferences. Currently, the company provides online submission management, peer review, conference planning services and traditional print and electronic publishing services for more than 100 organisations from numerous disciplines.

McKelvey has a bachelor degree in computer science from Washington University.

The big passion of McKelvey is glassblowing. For 20 years, he has worked to capture the magic of glass in his art. In 2006 he was chairman of the world’s largest meeting for artists of glass works.
